Will product damage or remove paint?

It will not remove or damage paint or other finishes unless they are oxide based or damaged by soaking in water. If there is rust underneath the paint it may flake off when the rust underneath is removed.

Generally speaking it works faster when its warmer and slower when colder like most chemical reactions. Regarding other metals, we have seen good results with most normal metal alloys of steel, copper and aluminum. As with all things your mileage may vary.

What is the best temperature for best results?

Industrial Rust Eliminator works best at 70 degrees Fahrenheit or higher.

How does water quality affect this product?

Water quality usually is not an issue because one of the two active ingredients doubles as a water softening agent, especially for "hard" water with a lot of dissolved calcium and iron.

Does the product have a shelf life after the powder is mixed with water?

For best performance you should keep it covered or in an airtight container when not being used to de-rust. If it isn’t covered it will begin to evaporate like any other water based mixture. Also, being made from natural materials if left mixed for a very long time mold can grow on the liquid surface.

Can this be reused after removing rust?

Product can be reused until it turns from clear or yellow to dark black. How much it can be reused depends on how much rust is being removed.

How should solution be stored for reuse?

The product can be reused until all of the active ingredient has been expended removing rust. When it turns completely black (its clear with a yellowish tint before being used) it is near the end of its useful life. You can mix it up in advance however there are two things to keep in mind if you do. If it isn’t covered it will begin to evaporate like any other water based mixture. We recommend covering any mix not currently being used to de-rust. Also, being made from natural materials if left mixed for a very long time mold can grow on the liquid surface.
